Abstract

The purpose of this article is to understand what is at the origin of the diffi culties that the professionals of
the Licungo University Library, Beira Extension, have in terms of searching for information in the electronic
catalogue, available online, to help users in providing information. Therefore, the bibliographic method was
used to theoretically support the study, and the unstructured interview technique for data collection at the study
site. The research took place at the previously indicated institution and had six librarians as a representative
sample. From the qualitative analysis it was possible to conclude that librarians lack training, not only frequently,
but also according to the updating of the information location system and computer skills; the qualifi cations
already off ered by the institution are in a very reduced number, which in a certain way negatively impacts its
activities; It is also noted that there is a lack of teamwork because it is perceived in part that the librarians’
diffi culties are individualized. It is suggested that, in addition to enhancing training, more computer resources
should be made available, including the security system, to prevent book theft.
