Abstract

The report was prepared in the Psychometrics course taught by Professor Isabel Silva. The main objective is to conduct a critical analysis of the "LES - Life Experiences Survey" questionnaire (Sarason, Johnson & Siegel, 1978; Silva et al., 2003). This instrument was developed to assess stress through life events that the individual experienced in a previous period, considering the desirability and undesirability of these events and the magnitude of their impact. In 2003, Isabel Silva and collaborators adapted the questionnaire for the Portuguese population with diabetes, aiming to evaluate the total stress over the last year and analyze the frequency of these events, the internal consistency of the instrument, and its correlation with symptoms of anxiety and depression.
