Abstract

This article aims to analyze the identity and diversity of riverside communities, certainly for the theoretical debate on traditional communities in the Amazon. As a methodology, bibliographical research was used, with a qualitative approach in order to interrelate the concepts that would support the research. It was concluded that riverside communities reach a range of meanings through experiences on the banks of rivers and built and organized manifestations that establish themselves socially, legitimizing individual and collective territorial identities.
