This article deals with Mathematical Modeling in the teaching-learning process of the 1st degree equation with an unknown. Modeling is a teaching alternative that takes place through a conception that allows the educator to develop a search for interaction arising from mathematics contextualized in the students' reality, and that prioritizes the construction of knowledge. This article supports the theoretical foundations on the process of solving 1st degree equation with an unknown.
